Digital wallets: Apple Pay and Google Pay setup

You can add your Capital on Tap physical or virtual card to Apple Pay or Google Pay for contactless payments.

Which cards can I add to a digital wallet?

Both physical and virtual Capital on Tap cards can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay. Virtual cards are particularly useful for digital wallet payments as they are available immediately after creation. This means you can start spending before your physical card has arrived.

How do I add my card to Apple Pay or Google Pay?

There are two methods to add your Capital on Tap card to a digital wallet:

Via the Capital on Tap app

  1. Open the app and navigate to the Cards tab.
  2. Select the card you wish to add.
  3. Tap Add to Apple Wallet or Add to Google Wallet.
  4. Review the details and confirm to complete the process.

Via your phone's wallet app

Manually enter the card details into the Apple Wallet or Google Wallet app on your device.

How do I verify my card in Apple Pay or Google Pay?

When adding a card through your phone's wallet app, verification is required for security. You can complete this through the Capital on Tap app.

If you have not completed identity verification, you may be prompted to do so when adding a card to a digital wallet.

If a Could not add card error appears, click Ok, then Back, then Cancel to start the identity verification process.

What are the transaction limits on my digital wallet transactions?

Unlike physical contactless cards (which have a £100 limit before requiring Chip & PIN), digital wallet transactions often do not have a specific contactless limit, though they are still subject to your available credit and individual card spending limits.

Why can't I add my card to a digital wallet?

You might be having trouble adding your card to a digital wallet because:

  • Card is frozen: Unfreeze your card through the Cards page in your portal or app before adding it to a digital wallet.
  • Identity verification incomplete: Complete verification through the Capital on Tap app.

If the card fails to add after verification is complete, try these steps:

  • Ensure your Capital on Tap app is updated to the latest version.
  • Remove any previously failed card attempts from your digital wallet.
  • Restart your phone and try adding the card again.
  • Check that your phone's operating system supports the digital wallet feature.

If the issue persists after these steps, contact support through the app or web portal.

What happens if my device is stolen or lost?

If your device is lost or stolen, digital tokens (the digital versions of your card on your phone) must be terminated immediately to secure the account.
